Besko is a Giant

Last night the Belfast Giants announced their latest signing for the new season. Joining the Giants is netminder Tyler Beskorowany.

Beskorowany, 28, is a name already known to Giants and Elite League fans already after he spent the latter part of last season at the now defunct Edinburgh Capitals. A tall goalie, standing 6'4 in height, he certainly will bring a presence to the Giants net and is a more than adequate replacement for Jackson Whistle who of course is now at Sheffield. He is one player that would have been on my wish list, alongside other Steelers fans too, for Thompson to bring in.

Whilst injury temporarily curtailed his stint to just 15 games in the Scottish capital, "Besko" did more than enough to impress me and a few others. Obviously he impressed Steve Thornton and Adam Keefe as well as they have brought him over the water to Northern Ireland. He therefore links up with the veteran that is Stephen Murphy and this combination could prove to be the best 1-2 in the EIHL if they catch fire immediately. It smacks of a title-winning partnership.

The Canadian has, despite his age, has experience in spades with appearances in both the AHL and DEL; actually winning the DEL goaltender of the season with Düsseldorfer in the 2014-15 season. That's excellent pedigree, and when the Capitals signed him for the remainder of last season (replacing Russian Pavel Shegalo) a lot of people wondered how the heck they managed to do it. But they did it. His statistics in Edinburgh don't look fantastic but when you realise what a horrible season that the Caps then it's understandable that these look abnormal. He's a cracking signing for the Giants and will really become a fan favourite in teal that I'm sure of.

You gotta be pleased with this Giants fans, yeah?
