Welcome to Hockey Blogger

Introduction
Welcome to Hockey Blogger, my new blog.

First of all may I introduce myself. I'm Mark and I'm the sole contributor of this site. I've always had an interest in writing and hockey, and my love affair with the sport began at the early age of 8 (36, almost 37 years ago) when I went on a school trip to the old Billingham Ice Rink.

I was hooked from there on, and it's never waned.

Prior to launching this blog, I have written about hockey for a number of years. I used to have a regular column in the match programme of the then Sheffield Scimitars but was told by a certain person that I wasn't good enough to do something similar in the Steelers one as the person in question said "You know nothing about the sport". But it never acted like a deterrent to me; in fact it motivated me to keep on writing.

I have had articles published on British Ice Hockey (BIH) and would like to thank current Braehead GM Gareth Chalmers for that. Gareth gave me a platform for my hockey writing to appear online; and it was a very enjoyable experience and nice sight to see your work appear for all to see. These last 20 odd months or so I was the Editor of "Frozen Steel Blog" churning out articles which predominantly were centred around the Sheffield Steelers; having written regular articles as a columnist beforehand.

So what's going to be different on Hockey Blogger? Well for a start, it won't be just concentrated on the Steelers. There will be pieces on the NHL, general EIHL and anything else hockey related including updates on a career mode I'm going to undertake on Franchise Hockey Manager 4 where I will start as the GM of the Steelers and see how far I can get with that. A bit of everything really.

Join me on my new venture, all comments welcomed.

Yours in hockey,

Mark
